The villa’s design draws inspiration from the ancient Minoan civilization, Europe’s first advanced culture that thrived on Crete during the Bronze Age. The Minoan influence is reflected in the grand sculpture of the “Horns of Consecration” at the main entrance, the fresco color-inspired hues in the guest rooms, and the impressive stone walls framing the house and garden.

KERAS CLIFF HOUSE was envisioned in 2021 by local architect Michalis Tzagkarakis and Associates of Matala, Crete, in collaboration with Patrick Alexander Baeuerle, founder of Minoan Solutions MIKE and owner of the villa. The construction was expertly led by Pela Papamatheakis, CEO of Cretan Houses in Tymbaki, Crete.

Dedicated to the memory of Patrick’s beloved father, Edmund Baeuerle, an architect who often traveled from Germany to Crete, the villa beautifully honors his passion for the island’s rich history and heritage, particularly, the island’s many Byzantine chapels decorated with ancient frescos.
